August 3rd- Flight to Winnipeg and Train to Churchill

I started the day by waking up at 5 am in the airport. Most kids weren’t up yet, as you can see in the photo above.

We are planning to fly to Winnipeg today in the morning to board our Churchill train! We made it to the gate and found a breakfast place called Mill Street Brewery, where we used our meal vouchers for from the day before.

Air Canada definitely is stricter than other airlines, and they have smaller storage bins so a few rollers got checked on this final flight. The flight to Winnipeg went well and was only an hour and a half. I slept for most of it.

We called over 3 taxis and loaded up our stuff to head to the train. Churchill here we come! Julie and Carla went to a grocery store while we were waiting for the train to go get us food! We all studied our plants while they were shopping.

We made it onto the train and found our seats. We had lunch and a nap before we had our first meeting! I had some strawberries and bread with butter along with some Twix. There is an observatory cart that could be used to see the northern lights if they are visible! To finish off the day, we had a meeting where we went over the challenges of learning something new about someone and finding your birthday buddy. We learned our new challenge and went over logistics and did more bonding activities. Then we all went outside and played tag at one of the stops and began eating more MREs for dinner. Once we finished MREs, we all went to our seats and played uno together with our new decks. Many of us practiced our plants for the upcoming plant ID test tomorrow.
