August 4th- ISAMR Uno and friendship Bracelets

We had a peaceful morning and were able to sleep in for day 2 on the train. At the morning meeting we shared one word that described how we felt at the moment and played an alphabet word game (Zaina won and got $10!!!) First thing on today’s itinerary is to arrive at Thompson around 1:45 and do our highly competitive grocery shopping scavenger hunt. We split up into 3 teams, with each having an adult. With Julie: Zaina, Judd, and Ezra. With Carla: Tyler, Hayden, and myself (Akeyla). Finally with Mark: Sarah, Miya, and Andrew. The train is running a bit late so we’re having our last box of MRE’s (meant for the train ride back) for lunch on the train since we won’t have enough time to sit down in Thompson. But, we are picking up pizza for dinner while we’re there.

Once the train arrived, we caught cabs to the Walmart; my team and I sprinted to the doors. It’s was stressful but exciting, and there was a LOT of cheating. Carla invited one of the JCR’s who participated in this trip two years ago, Emily, to help turn our team of 4 into 5. She was extremely nice, shared her highlights from her experience on the ISAMR trip, and helped secure Carla’s team(my team) the win. After unloading all the groceries back at the station we took a walk back into town to order pizzas. Emily joined us and afterwards we headed to Dairy Queen where she gave us handmade loom bracelets.

We said goodbye to Emily and her family. Hopefully we catch her in Churchill on Saturday before we’re off to Nester 1. (She’s was in Thomson for an Athlete of the year award!) Back on the train, all of us joined in the dinning car for a game of Salad Bowl (aka complicated charades). We had a lot of fun, especially my team when Carla would guess and earn points for us while being on the opposing team. Final score was 55-49. Jude, Mark, Zaina, Ezra, Hayden, and myself were the winners

Some time passed and us students decided to play ISAMR Uno back in the observatory car. We made a ton of custom wild cards prior to the game, like singing your favorite song, dares, and push ups. Unfortunately for me, we played for a long time and I didn’t get the chance to write this blog until 12am and we wake up in next 6 hours T-T. Goodnight!-Akeyla
