August 4- Transit!

What is better than waking up to the smell of Julie’s freshly baked bagels? Right!? This morning started off at the very early 5:15 am to get on our transport for the day: a bus! While on the bus for nine whole hours, we enjoyed each other’s company, studied plant names, and made many bathroom stops (whether at an actual rest stop or just on the side of the road). Nearing the end of this leg of the journey, we took a break to walk to see Piskew Falls and talk about some things we’re excited to do/see on the trip.

We picked up some world-famous pizza (according to our bus driver Larry- it was a solid 6/10) and finally made it to the train station! Using our well-oiled machine of 11, we quickly and efficiently unloaded the bus and got our luggage loaded onto the train car. We dropped off the precious cargo that was to stay with us, including our watermelon Rex, inside the train station before leaving it with a bodyguard (Elizabeth) to take a brisk walk to stretch our legs. Then it was time to see our home for the night! We loaded onto the train and started to get to know the first few of our many new friends, Quinn, Shady, (junior Canadian rangers), and Lizette (Dene Elder). We passed the evening by playing Wavelength and enjoying the view up on the observation deck.

This brings us to now, where we’re all snuggled up shoulder to shoulder in our Canadian tire-sponsored sleeping bags, with our sleeping positions only getting more creative as the days go on. See you in Churchill!

Peace out Girl Scout,

Soren, Sami (hey fam!!), and Rex
