Blog Update August 14

Today we woke up at 6 am in order to be ready for the chopper at 8:30. We rolled up our sleeping bags, folded up the tents, and headed to breakfast. We had some delicious cinnamon rolls made from scratch by the lovely Carla Guarraia along with some bacon and eggs. I was on the first chopper out so I stuffed everything in my bag and ran to the gate to be ready. When the chopper came we rushed on board and watched Nestor One fade into the distance. We landed at the CNSC in order to grab supplies we had stored there and regroup to head to Camp Nanuq. Once we were all arrived, a few students and Julie headed out to do a few more sites in the middle of Wapusk. The rest of us stayed to load everything into the vans and ate our packed lunches there. Then we drove 10 minutes to Camp Nanuq. After taking some time to settle in we got ready to head to the nearby lake. We spent the afternoon canoeing on the lake or relaxing in the shade. It was a nice break after doing lots of field work the past few days. We headed back for dinner and got to try MREs for some of our first times. I had a chicken noodle one and it came with skittles! Everyone was pretty tired from the day and after some socializing we headed to sleep. Goodnight from Camp Nanuq!
