August 15th- One Last Bonefire...

Today we woke up early to strong blowing winds and rain. For breakfast, we had cereal and oatmeal, and as we were eating, the adults delivered some bad news. Our chopper had been delayed from 9 am to 4 pm due to severe weather conditions. With the new news, we got ready to leave by taking down 1 one of the tents that suffered some damage in the intense winds and restaking the surviving tents in preparation for the next incoming group of people. After securing all the tents, we went out to take a group picture in front of thenestr 1 sign as is tradition, and the rest of the day until the choppe,r we played some ISAMR Olympic games likUnono, cleaned up camp as best as possible, played cards, napped or watching the land and animals from the observatory deck. When the choppers came around 4 o'clock, we were ready. We made a line of people from the chopper to the camp and passed in bags as efficiently as possible. Soon after, the first group of people went up into the air and left Nesterr.

I (Andrew) was on the second chopper out, so I went up around 5:10. In the air, the ride was amazing. The pilot said he saw two moose in some willows, but from where I was sitting,g I was unable to see them. The views from the chopper are indescribable and magical. Once we all made it back to camp, we unpacked all our field gear and split up into work groups.

I was working on the blog with Miya and Jude. We worked in these groups for about an hour, and then we had a delicious dinner of tacos and burritos prepared by some people in the group. That night, we also got the news that we would be paddleboarding the next morning, bright and early a,t 7, so we all packed our things and went to bed early so we could make it in time.
