Great Vibes turns into Great Experiences

Today, we woke up at 6:30 to be able to grab a quick peanut butter and jelly sandwich or 2 before heading out early to be at the Docks at 7:30. We arrived at the dock with our repacked day bags ready for half a day of paddle boarding with beluga whales! We took turns heading into the Sea North Building to change into wetsuits before getting a safety briefing and beading out on the boards into the water. Everyone had atleast a few close encounters with the whales. The day on the water couldn't get any better, but it did. While we were out on the water, we spot a white dot in the distance. Its a Polar Bear Swimming! Seeing a bear closer than the previous night was one of the coolest experiences.

After the insane sites, the group traveled to the complex where it was a time for students to have a bite to eat, take a quick swim in the pool, and have a nice rinse in the shower. After the moment of relaxation, the group walked to the back of the building, for a presentation given by Jesse’s Grandmother, Georgina Berg, a Cree elder, and a York Factory First Nation elder. The presentations was given to tell the stories of the YFFN and to explain trades between different indigenous groups.

After a wonderful presentation, we headed back to camp to prepare for heading to Nester One early tomorrow morning. During packing time, Jose and his brother Joaquin cooked some delicious Adobo for the group, before we had a rundown on the plans for our day going to Nester. Greg Brought everyone a special chocolate bar for dessert. It was lights out 15 minutes earlier as usual due to an extra early wake up the next morning.
