WE IN A CHOPPA! 🚁

Today, was an early rise for the group at 6:30. We started off with some pancakes, bacon, and some fruit on the side for our breakfast. After the group ate, people finished up packing, shoving camp shoes into our backpacks into space we didn’t know existed, then proceeded to wait a long time for the go ahead to go to the chopper! The weather caused a big delay in the morning process, but people kept being busy by creating a phonetic alphabet, playing Card Games like Spit and Gin and taking a snooze.

Then, Jill came in and told us to hop in the vans because the chopper was landing soon! We made our way to the landing spot. We were split into 5 different groups, to make sure everyone and everything made it to Nester safety. slowly, but surely, the group made our way to Nester One with a few delays due to fog. Groups in the chopper saw moose and a few different birds.  As a student from Baltimore, landing on the ground at Nester one was a moment of relief and excitement because we finally made it to the famous destination and it was great to be in a place where I thought I would never be. For a Churchill resident and JCR, it was nice to be back.  

After a few hours of settling in at Nester One, we organized everyone in the group to set up tents! At first, the set up process was going to be like a piece of cake. We had the stakes, the tents, the polls, all the tent necessities, it looked like everything was going to be perfect. Then with a little ISAMR luck, there had to be something wrong. A majority of the tents had missing parts, and bad whether started to roll in. Wind was blowing from left to right, rain was coming in all different pressures, but we eventually got situated into our own tents!

We finished the day off with some chicken tikka masala made my Julie, had a bagel making class for our breakfast the next morning, then capped off the night with some s’more’s. Goodnight everybody, we’ll be back for day 2 at nester one!
