Last Day in Churchill...

Today was our last day in Churchill 😢. We started the morning by finishing packing and getting ready for our last field day. We had a delicious breakfast of perfect pancakes and leftover scrambled hash brown omelettes. We then headed to our last field site, where we were thigh deep in water. We sped through our data collection and held one of the final Olympic events: probing. It was an intense match, but ultimately the green team swept the competition 🌱🚜💨💪💪💪. Their probing skills were immaculate, and their teamwork was admirable. Red team came in second, the Blue team came in third, and the Yellow team came in fourth. This left the Olympics with a tie for first between the Green team and Blue team. After we finished at our last site, we organized our equipment and headed back to camp for lunch. We ate a mix of everything to finish out our food supply, and had a long-anticipated dessert: Jill’s Cranberry Cake. Made with fresh Churchill cranberries, this cake was divine. The perfect combo of sweet, moist, and tangy, a truly one-of-a-kind cake. 

We then finished cleaning up around camp and getting all of our things ready to go before hitting the town! We split up into groups with at least one Churchill local and explored. We went shopping, got milkshakes, and got to see where our friends live. We then gathered at the complex for our closing ceremony, where we enjoyed hot dogs and our last moments together. Then came the long-awaited Olympics finale. It was a pool variation. Everyone was anxious to see who would come out victorious, green or blue. In the end, Red won this game, Green and Yellow tied for second, and Blue came in last. However, it comes as no surprise that Green had enough of a lead to pull through and win the Olympics 🙌🙌🙌. It was an exciting and memorable moment. Green team then received their Olympic medals and celebrated as a group 🥇🥇🥇. 

With one final van ride, we headed to the train station. Although we wish we could’ve stayed a couple of days more, we said our tearful goodbyes to the Churchill JCRs. We then boarded the train and waved goodbye one last time to our new friends. On the train, the Baltimore and Linlake crew hung out before going to sleep! Until tomorrow! - Mia & Divine
