First Day In Churchill!

Today we woke up at around 8 on the train to Churchill. We had to sleep tightly next to each other since there were too few seats for everyone. While everyone gradually broke up, we ate our breakfasts. Miya ate a cucumber wrapped in cream cheese and salami. Jack, Tommy, and Ziva ate ramen. 

After breakfast, Julie organized a big activity for us which included 4 smaller games. The goal was to gain the highest amount of points from four different rounds of games. Every game we would have a new group of four, and we would keep track of our personal points. The first game was to see who could write the best poem for Fletcher’s birthday. Group 1 (Tommy, Fletcher, Mia, and Kammi) won that round. The second round was the more serious one where we created a solution to a problem we see in our communities. 3rd round was a tournament of the card game War. Cherish won!

After we arrived and were settled in. A group of us were given: Cherish, Greg, Jack, and me. We went to the CNSC, which was where ISAMR used to stay at the start of the club. Carla showed us around, and it was very nice. There was a gift shop, a super nice bathroom, and many cool laboratories. After the tour, we went to the older part of the building where all of our ISAMR stuff is. After lots of looking, we found our probes, measuring tapes, soap, and games. On the way to and from the CNSC, we saw a caribou, which was very exciting!

When we got home, we ate perogies, sausage, and salad. It was super fun because we ate with our new friends. After dinner, we did a scavenger hunt and the reward was ice cream. We sang Happy Birthday to Fletcher to get the ice cream. We also learned about our field work and the materials we were assigned. Everyone got a few things to carry for the next day, and then we went to sleep.
